"Our fans love the series’ sense of humour, and this has given us great penetration within the target group"

This year, police comedy POPOZ was such a success that Comedy Central ordered a second season from producer NL Film. Season 1 was the most-watched Dutch series of the past 3 years on Comedy Central Netherlands. And it’s not only in the Netherlands that POPOZ are making sure the bad guys get banged up and paedophiles are caught using toddler totty. Following its success in the Netherlands, the series has premièred in Sweden, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Maurice Hols, General Manager Comedy & Entertainment Northern Europe: ‘Popoz is original, hilarious and brutally honest, and for these reasons fits in really well with the Comedy Central DNA. Our fans love the series’ sense of humour, and this has given us great penetration within the target group, both linearly on TV and online through digital platforms in several countries in Northern Europe. We are looking forward to a second season of hilarious escapades from our favourite police heroes.’

POPOZ 2 will again by directed by Martijn Smits and Erwin van den Eshof, who also wrote the scripts in cooperation with Wijo Koek. Huub Smit, Sergio Hasselbaink, Noel Deelen and Uriah Arnhem will return for the new series, and Ancilla Tilia will have a prominent guest role as the sexy pathologist.

About POPOZ

In this follow-up, we find out how detectives Ivo and Randy and their intern, Coco, are getting on.
In spite of the fact that Ivo and Randy are serious detectives, they curse, take drugs and are violent – not even hesitating to shoot their intern. As the mood takes them, they are lazy, vengeful, lewd and jealous.
The comical situations the characters get into are usually the result of misunderstandings, macho behaviour and a desire to experience the kind of action and violence Ivo and Randy have seen in American movies. However, they never actually get to live out these spectacular fantasies, because some trivial everyday distraction always comes along, such as having to take a dump just when a wild car chase is about to start.
