"The fact that Penoza II was seen as the best script for a TV series by our colleagues in the business makes this a really exceptional award to win."

September, the second season of PENOZA won the Zilveren Krulstaart award during the Netherlands Film Festival. The Zilveren Krulstaart (‘Silver Curly Tail’), an initiative by the Dutch Screenwriters’ Network, is a major professional award for screenwriters. The winner is chosen by his or her fellow screenwriters. Alongside Pieter Bart Korthuis, Maarten Lebens, Karin van der Meer and Franky Ribbens all contributed to the winning script for PENOZA II.

Pieter Bart Korthuis: “The fact that Penoza II was seen as the best script for a TV series by our colleagues in the business makes this a really exceptional award to win. It is a huge compliment for the whole writing team, and everyone involved in the development of the scripts.”

The winner was chosen by the audience of professionals on the Day of the Screenplay from a list of nominees compiled by members of the Screenwriters’ Network. Two other series were nominated in the TV series category alongside PENOZA II: Mother, I Want to Join the Cabaret (screenplay by Maarten Lebens and Paula van der Oest) and Volgens Robert (screeplay by Mario Goos and Peter Blok). This award was established by the Dutch Screenwriters’ Network in 2001. Originally a symbolic prize, the Zilveren Krulstaart is now the professional award in the Netherlands, seen by screenwriters as the ultimate recognition of their work.

The new season of PENOZA starts coming Sunday. PENOZA is produced by NL Film, based on an idea by Pieter Bart Korthuis, and directed by Diederik van Rooijen. Penoza III, from Sunday 29 September at 8.25 p.m. by the KRO on Nederland 3.
