"The Menten Case is based on the true story of journalist Hans Knoop, who is trying to find out the truth about the – at that time not yet convicted – war criminal Pieter Menten."

The MAX drama series The Menten Case has been nominated in two categories for the TV Beelden 2017 awards. The successful series is competing for the award for ‘Best TV film and short series’ and Guy Clemens has been nominated for ‘Best lead role in a TV film or short series’ for his portrayal of the journalist Hans Knoop.

The Menten Case is based on the true story of journalist Hans Knoop, who is trying to find out the truth about the – at that time not yet convicted – war criminal Pieter Menten. This was a case that caused a great deal of uproar in the media and Dutch politics in the 1970s.

Knoop is played by Guy Clemens and Aus Greidanus sr. portrays Menten. Other roles are taken by Noortje Herlaar, Carine Crutzen and Arian Foppen.

Each episode of the three-part series, broadcast on NPO 2, attracted more than 1 million viewers in the Netherlands. The series was directed by Tim Oliehoek, and the screenplay written by Robert-Jan Overeem and Jan-Harm Dekker.
The series is produced by NL Film in co-production with Omroep MAX.
